Maschinenfabrik Niehoff attaches great importance to a long service life of its products and endeavors to manufacture machinery that features reliability, process stability, high productivity, energy and material efficiency while simultaneously reducing CO₂ emissions. One example for this commitment is the new next-generation Rod Breakdown (RBD) line type MSM 88 – R 503 for copper and aluminum wires, which Niehoff will be showing at wire 2024 in its Innovation Cube. With its brand new and even more extensive NIEHOFF LifeCycle⁺ service concept, Niehoff has put together a comprehensive package for its wide range of services, including the new myNIEHOFF digital service platform. In this way, the company ensures that its customers can optimally utilize Niehoff machines over their entire life cycle.

Niehoff was one of the first manufacturers of wire and cable machinery to introduce an environmental management system in 1998. Since then, Niehoff has had this system continuously audited by independent environmental auditors in accordance with DIN ISO 14 001 and the European environmental management system EMAS, while also having audits conducted on its production processes.

 

One of Niehoff’s most recent innovations regarding ecology is a photovoltaic system that has been installed on the roofs of its factory halls in Schwabach. The photovoltaic system with more than 2,700 modules and an area of 5,500 m² generates a considerable portion of the electricity required by Niehoff. The rest of the demand is covered by CO₂-neutral green electricity with guarantees of origin.

The Niehoff factory in Schwabach complies with the low-energy house standard and utilizes geothermal energy for its heating and cooling technology, to name just one example. In parallel, Niehoff consistently invests in cutting-edge, energy-saving production equipment.

The outdoor areas around the factory are designed to provide food and shelter for wild bees, butterflies and other insects, thus contributing to the preservation of biodiversity. For this, Niehoff received the award Blooming Company from the Bavarian Ministry of the Environment as part of the Blühpakt Bayern.

For its commitment to environmental and climate protection, Niehoff has been awarded a gold certificate by Thorsten Glauber, the Bavarian State Minister for the Environment and Consumer Protection. This award is given to companies that have participated in the Bavarian Environmental and Climate Pact for five three-year periods in a row. Besides its participation in this pact, Niehoff supports as a partner the Nuremberg Networks for Sustainable Business. Since 2021, Niehoff has also been a member of the Blue Competence sustainability initiative of the German Engineering Federation VDMA and has committed itself to complying with the twelve sustainability principles of the mechanical and plant engineering industry. With regard to its corporate social responsibility (CSR), Niehoff cooperates with EcoVadis, an international platform for sustainability ratings.
