The main criteria when using hot forming tools is the useful life of the tools. Cemented carbide has been advancing for several years due to its high wear resistance and flexibility.
At wire & tube 2010 DURIT presents a new cemented carbide grade for components that need to be thermally resistant. The experts from Wuppertal developed the cemented carbide grade TiC25Cr in the company-owned lab in close co-operation with Aveiro University, Portugal.
The material features a thermal resistance up to 800° C and therefore is suitable especially for hot forming. It can be used for belling of high-strength steel tubes or as roll in the steel production. Currently we run experiments in the field of high temperature valves. Most components for hot forming made by DURIT are used in the automotive industry.
