The main criteria when using shaping tools is the useful life of the tools. Cemented carbide has been advancing for several years due to its high wear resistance and flexibility. Some of the many application examples used in shaping and pressing are straightening rollers, dies, cut-off blades, punches, hexagonal and segmented tools, clamping and cutting jaws or extrusion dies.
The requirements to materials are very high especially for extrusion.
Instead of grades with a high cobalt proportion DURIT sets a focus on new developed micro grain grades.
The advantage for the user: Due to a low binder proportion at the surface the propensity to cold weld is reduced. The tools’ useful lives are extended and therefore production becomes more efficient.
Continuous innovations and material improvements are part of DURIT’s philosophy.
