Nord Stream AG, Zug/Switzerland and EUROPIPE signed an agreement on the delivery of large-diameter steel pipe also for the second section for the construction of the Baltic Sea gas pipeline.

Each section of the pipeline, altogether 1,220 kilometres long, extends from Vyborg, Russia, to Greifswald, Germany. EUROPIPE will supply 714,000 tons (848 km) and that means again the main part of the pipes.

It is the largest offshore project in the world so far; the planned pipeline will have an outer diameter of 48 inches and be the first offshore pipeline that manages without a compressor station. Pipe laying of the first section will start in April 2010.
