Burlington, Ontario, Canada. March 2010: Based on the success of its first generation Weld Inspection system for the Tube Industry, Xiris Automation Inc., has started shipping its 2nd generation Post Weld Inspection system this month.
Designed to be installed right after the weld head for tube and pipe mills, the latest Inspection System, known as the WI2000p, inspects and detects a variety of quality issues related to the welding process.
Using a high resolution camera combined with fast data capture and laser imaging, the inspection rate provides detection of defects down to 0.25 mm in size on a typical laser welding tube mill. Defects inspected include weld undercut, raised/ sunken welds, pinholes, bead position, weld height and weld register (mismatch).
By implementing real-time post-weld inspection of tube seams using the WI2000p inspection system, tube and fabricators can:
Improve Quality & Reduce Scrap
Increase Production Time
Reduce Product Liability
Add competitive advantage
