HIGHVOLT Prüftechnik Dresden GmbH

The world's leader in state-of-the-art high-voltage test systems for electrical power equipment

HIGHVOLT Prüftechnik Dresden GmbH, formed as an independent, flexible and innovative company, continues a century of experience of supplying systems, components and instruments for HV testing and measurement from Dresden since 1904. Nowadays the company is a member of Reinhausen Group and can proudly look back on a long success story which is to be continued also in future by the stable growth of our company resulting from an excellent order income situation.

As a manufacturer of high-voltage test systems and components, HIGHVOLT is one of the leading test equipment suppliers for today’s cable industry.

HIGHVOLT’s product range varies from components and devices for HV test techniques to state-of-the-art custom-made system solutions. HIGHVOLT is a pioneer in the development of mobile AC test systems with the most advanced applications for testing and diagnosis of medium, high and ultra-high cables after installation on-site. The picture shows a test arrangement with 4 HV reactors, 2 in parallel and 2 in series each, for the testing of a 220 kV cable with a length of 14.9 km by an AC voltage of 216 kV resulting in a test current of 89.5 A (picture by courtesy of Nexans and CEPCO). The special design of resonant test systems with variable frequency ranging from 20 to 300 Hz creates the conditions for real AC withstand tests on long cables after installation. Partial discharge tests including monitoring and diagnosis complete these withstand tests. Nowadays this special technique is also applied for shop tests of super-long cables due to its self-evident advantages and because of the fact that all other high voltage methods hereby fail.

The test systems can be operated by computer-aided control and measuring systems, based on standard WINDOWS systems. An industry computer with special firmware enables the user to run the tests automatically. The software package generates a virtual front panel for testing devices and measuring instruments on the PC monitor. Different windows can be superimposed. Additional hardware and software tools realize the supervision of the computer-aided system via Internet or telephone from any place in the world. The user is not only able to read the data but also to send it to HIGHVOLT for support concerning data evaluation as well as test system adjustment, software update or service.
