Planning the next steps for the “Augusta” gas transport pipeline
View of the Wertingen compressor station
bayernets GmbH is currently planning the next steps for the AUGUSTA gas transport pipeline. At the end of July, work is currently underway to expand the existing Wertingen compressor station, where the AUGUSTA gas transport pipeline will be integrated into the transport network in future. The planned gas transport pipeline will connect the Wertingen compressor station in the district of Dillingen an der Donau with the Kötz network node in the district of Günzburg over a length of approx. 40.5 km. The current planning approval procedure was initiated in mid-2023. Funding for the project has been secured. The total investment will amount to around 180 million euros.
As part of the ongoing planning approval procedure, the government of Swabia has invited public bodies and those affected by the plan to a hearing on September 10, 2024 in Jettingen-Scheppach.
The AUGUSTA gas transport pipeline will be integrated into bayernets' existing gas transport system at the starting point, the compressor station in Wertingen, and at the end point, the Kötz network node. The Kötz gas pressure control and metering system has already been built for this purpose and will be commissioned at the end of 2022. An expansion is also necessary at the Wertingen site in order to integrate the new pipeline. The measures include adjustments to the pipelines, an additional gas cooler and a gas pressure regulating and metering system (GDRM system). The construction work for this is currently underway. Commissioning of the Wertingen 2 GDRM plant is planned for the end of 2024.
