Repsol has a comprehensive range of products for the wire and cable industry. Offering specially formulated raw materials for: power cables, telecommunications, traction and special cables compounds for insulation, cable filling compounds (filling and flooding types), jacketing, EVA/EBA copolymers (for special, semiconducting, and flame retardant compounds), clean LDPE grades.
Repsol presents at this show its new PE004S, an extra clean polyethylene grade for direct peroxide injection for high voltage power cable.
A full portfolio of EVA and EBA grades, Repsol also presents seven new EVA/EBA grades, which complement its current portfolio for wire and cable applications.
At Repsol’s stand during Wire 2012 Düsseldorf, located in Hall 12 – stand D53, we were able to perceive Repsol’s constant drive in becoming a leading company in the petrochemical business, which is clearly reflected in its wide product range, where specialities have a relevant position.
Within Repsol’s speciality products, compounds for the wire and cable industry have an outstanding status. Repsol’s position in the cable segment has become stronger thanks to the quality of its products, its close relationship to the customers and the benefits obtained from more than 20 years’ experience.
Repsol is develops solutions for wire and cable applications, particularly for power cable. Repsol has developed a full portfolio of EVA and EBA grades, where all MFI and comonomer content alternatives are covered, for semiconductive compounds for medium and high voltage cables. Thereby, the portfolio for medium voltage cables is covered, providing solutions to all polymeric layers of the cable: sheathing, insulation and semiconductive compounds.
Repsol presents at Wire 2012 two new EBA grades, PA27003 (27% BA and MFI 3) and PA24004 (24% BA and MFI 4) with high comonomer content for special cable compounds. These new materials become a real alternative to traditional EVA solutions, besides presenting advantages in processability due to its higher thermal resistance and better mechanical performance at low temperatures.
Repsol has made in recent years a great effort to develop new EVA and EBA grades for HFFR compounds and specialty compounds, such as its new PA439, PA459, PA1925, PA1303 and PA803 grades. These new grades, which complement its current portfolio for wire and cable applications, are a proof of Repsol’s capacity of continuous development and to provide solutions to its customers
Additionally, Repsol’s PA470 grade reinforces and complements the EVA portfolio for the wire and cable market. This grade is intended for cable compounds with high resistance to oils and hydrocarbons by its high content of VA (40%).
Repsol also presents at this show its new PE004S, an extra clean polyethylene grade for direct peroxide injection for high voltage power cables. The PE004S is Repsol’s latest development for power cables, as result of its policy of continuous improvement and investments implementation at its specially adapted Tarragona production plant. The PE004S is part of an integrated solution for the insulation of high voltage cables and an alternative to traditional ready-to-use compounds. The PE004S is an enhanced grade in terms of cleanliness compared to PE004 and takes advantage of Repsol’s experience in medium voltage power applications to offer a high quality alternative for high voltage cables.
