ESAB Cutting Systems introduces COMBIREX™ DX
The COMBIREX™ DX plasma and oxy-fuel CNC Shape Cutting Machine is one of ESAB's new global machines that incorporates modular assembly design principles.
The COMBIREX™ DX is the first in a series of machines that will be built from off-the-shelf pre-assembled modules on a lean assembly line. This reduces the assembly and test time for a customised machine to less than one week. Customers will be able to order bespoke machines within a fixed range of configurations and they will be built, tested and shipped in a time frame of less than six weeks.
Designed for a long service life and with low maintenance requirements, the COMBIREX™ DX is available in four gantry sizes and can be equipped with up to four stations with an intelligent positioning aid. Safety features such as the on-board light barrier offer effective protection for the operating personnel.
ESAB Cutting Systems is currently developing the modular machine designs for the future, which all the company's operational units will embrace. Besides the COMBIREX™ DX, a whole generation of machines has been carefully selected to support the modular design concept. This offers advantages such as flexibility in the manufacturing process, reduced fixed costs and the ability to react quickly to customers' demands.
In the UK ESAB Cutting Systems of Andover has had immediate success with the new COMBIREX™ DX. As soon as the demonstration model was delivered, it was purchased by Hoval, a long standing UK customer.
"This was a quick and excellent piece of business," says Ian Kirkpatrick, General Manager, ESAB Cutting Systems in the UK. "We were able to fulfil quickly Hoval's needs for a state of the art plasma machine with the latest safety features."
The machine was equipped with an m3 360 plasma cutting system, capable of cutting or marking material up to three metres wide. The specification also included the latest light beam technology to offer operator protection. All the other advantages of the new COMBIREX™ DX, including its sturdiness and precision linear rail and precision rack & pinion drives, were available to Hoval, a market leader in the UK in boiler manufacturing as well as other heating products.
