TMK Starts Commercial Production of Super-Chrome Steel Seamless Pipe with Premium Connections

TMK, one of the world's leading producers of tubular products for the oil and gas industry, started production of casing made of super-chrome steel. The pipes, manufactured for Gazprom, are threaded with TMK GF premium connections.

Pipes made from 13-Chrome steel have unique mechanical characteristics that allow them to be used in a variety of aggressive environments in the most difficult oil and gas fields, also as substitutes for more expensive pipes made from stainless steel.

TMK GF premium connections are used in directional wells and ensure a high level of gas-tightness in the pipe string under difficult conditions such as bending, compression, tension, and high torque.

TMK’s super-chrome casing has been shipped to Gasprom and has got positive assessment from the gas monopoly.

TMK IPSCO Begins Development of New Premium Facility in Canada

TMK IPSCO, the North American division of global pipe manufacturer TMK, has begun development of a new 33,000 square-foot pipe threading and service facility in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The state-of-the-art production equipment at the facility will thread a full range of ULTRA™ Premium connections, from 4 1/2 inches to 13 3/8 inches. In addition, the site will offer a full line of accessories, services and repairs. The facility is expected to begin operating in late 2012.

“This is a very exciting initiative for TMK IPSCO,” said Piotr Galitzine, chairman of TMK IPSCO. “This new facility will keep our company at the forefront of technology, expand our local presence, and enable us to better serve our very important Canadian oil and gas customers.”

TMK IPSCO has been operating in Canada since 2010, with a sales office located in Calgary, devoted to sales of oil country tubular goods (OCTG). As the Canadian market continues to shift towards unconventional gas and oil resources, proven premium connections will be in higher demand. To meet this growing demand, the new TMK IPSCO facility in Edmonton is ideally situated in close proximity to unconventional resources like the Horn River, Montney and Duvernay Shales. Served by rail and located just north of Sherwood Park, the site will enable TMK IPSCO to provide quicker response times on drilling and completion tools.

TMK Tubing With Premium Connections Receives ISO 13679 CAL IV Certification

TMK, one of the world's leading producers of tubular products for the oil and gas industry, has successfully conducted certification of tubing with TMK PF premium connections in accordance with the ISO 13679 CAL IV standard. The tests were conducted at the Oil States Industries international testing center (Aberdeen, UK).

This was the first certification of TMK tubing threaded with premium connections according to this standard. The testing qualification program was conducted by TMK-Premium Service, which presented grade L80 tubing threaded with TMK PF premium connections. During the testing, pipes were subjected to the 80% compression level.

“Successful certification of TMK PF premium connections on both casing and tubing in accordance with the ISO 13679 CAL IV standard gives us the opportunity to supply an all-inclusive pipe string fully certified under this standard for use in the well,” said Sergei Bilan, Vice President of Premium Products and Services at TMK. “Completion of this certification serves as confirmation of the world quality level of our threads and allows us to enter the league of the leading global suppliers of tubular products for complex drilling both onshore and offshore.”

TMK Ships New Casing for Zarubezhneft to Latin America

TMK, one of the world's leading producers of tubular products for the oil and gas industry, ships a new type of casing with TMK PF premium connections to Russian state-owned oil company Zarubezhneft.

The high-strength casing of the special High Collapse series (resistant to external collapse pressure) with gas-tight TMK PF premium connections was not previously manufactured in Russia. This new product type is intended for installation in deep and ultra-deep horizontal wells and will be used to develop offshore fields in Latin America.

TMK Makes First Shipment of Russian-Manufactured Casing with ULTRATM Premium Connections

TMK, one of the world's leading producers of tubular products for the oil and gas industry, has made its first shipment of Russian-manufactured casing with ULTRA-FJ Premium Connections (a product patented by the company’s American division). The pipe was produced at the Orsk Machine Building Plant and delivered to Lukoil.

The grade L80 pipe was manufactured in accordance with the standards of API Spec 5CT, PSL-1, R3. The Company’s longer-term plans involve the production of ULTRA Premium Connections at other Russian facilities.

“The synergetic effect of collaboration between TMK’s Russian and American divisions is reflected in the expanding range of high-tech products that the Company supplies to both global and local markets,” said Alexander Shiryaev, TMK CEO. “Among other things, the production of the ULTRA Premium Connections in Russia will allow us to improve our own Premium class offering to the largest Russian oil and gas companies, in which they are becoming increasingly interested.”
